What is the difference between STOTT PILATES and other Pilates methods?
STOTT PILATES incorporates modern exercise principles, including contemporary thinking about spinal rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. For example, some approaches may promote a flat back, whereas STOTT PILATES exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints, placing more emphasis on scapular stabilization. As well, there are more preparatory exercises and modifications to cater to many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to everyday life.

​How often should I do Pilates?

The frequency that you should do Pilates will vary depending on each individual's needs.  A STOTT PILATES professional will assess your current physical condition giving recommendations specifically designed to meet your personal goals.

Pilates is a form of moderate strength training and challenging Pilates workout will breakdown muscle, thereby promoting the build up of stronger muscles. However, a big difference between Pilates and regular strength training is that in Pilates we are also working toward body/mind integration and educating the body to move more efficiently. To this end, Pilates workouts will emphasize things like awareness, functional alignment, breath and co-ordination. This multidimensional approach gives us the opportunity to shift the focus of our workouts, making it possible to do a safe and interesting workout everyday. 

​​What should I wear for Pilates?

​Wear stretchable and comfortable clothing along with a clean pair of socks.  No running shoes are required for Pilates.

What is your 'Cancellation Policy'?

If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment a full session fee is charged.  If we are able to book another client in this time slot you will not be charged.  'Life happens' and all efforts are made to accommodate you when and where possible yet we make our living with our time and expertise. 

TIP: ​If you have to cancel within the 24 hours before your session why not give the appointment to a family member or a friend as a surprise.
